Abstract

The invitation done on November 21st and 22nd, 2002 in Prague by NATO to certain countries belonging to former Eastern Europe, will be followed by experiences of extension that will even include the formal admission of Russia as a full member of the Organization. The added benefits of the Alliance are held as a formal motive, however the need of the U.S.A. or of the so called "euro-Atlantic area" to widen the allies spectrum in the old soviet republics still underlies. On the other hand, these republics are interested in strengthening their relationship with the U.S.A. and Europe in an antiRussian function.
