Factor structure of perceived stress scale in chilean workers sample

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the factor structure of the PSS (Cohen, Kamarck & Mermelstein, 1983), in Chilean workers. METHOD: The sample was composed of 200 workers from Antofagasta, Chile (62.5% women), with an age average of 39.14. An Exploratory Factor Analysis was applied. To retain factors, Parallel Analysis and a comparison of the adjustment between nested models and others was used. RESULTS: Factor structure found in two factors is coherent with the literature. CONCLUSION: PSS validity has been proved appropriate for the sampled studied.
